Don’t ask me why I wake up thinking about math problems like this. I have no clue to the answer to that question. But here it is, my dream state calculations for the morning…

Region Dimensions

256 meters =
~840 feet
~280 yards
~.159 miles
0.256 kilometers

256 * 256 meters =
65536 sq meters
~705,424 sq feet
~16 acres (WooHoo! I’m the proud (& broke?) landowner of 128 acres! plus 64 more of ocean!)
~7 Average City Blocks (I’d go with either 2 by 3 for 6 blocks or 3 by 3 for 9 blocks if I were to set up a region by city blocks)
~14 (American) Football Fields (although you can only fit 10 full fields into a region without goofing with it’s proportions)

Not that any of this really helps much considering avatars and inworld building is generally 1.25-1.5 times bigger than in the real world but it does give some reference to thinking about sizing things…..

Circumference of a circle fitting the full size of a region (diameter of 256 meters) is 804.25 meters or ~ half a mile or ~0.8 kilometers. So, say you made a circular track fitting the full size of a region and your avatar was the height of a real person, you’d be running half a mile each time your completed a full circle around the track.

City Blocks differ in size, but the typical square city block reaches 16 or 17 per mile, or 2.21 to 2.50 Acres. Engineers use a typical city block as 100,000 sq. ft. for calculation estimates, which is about 17 blocks per mile or 2 1/4 acres. (A football field is 300 feet by 160 feet, which is 1.1 Acres.)

A square enclosing one acre is approximately 69.57 yards, or 208 feet 9 inches (63.63 metres) on a side. As a unit of measure, an acre has no prescribed shape; any area of 43,560 square feet is an acre.
